A very good copy for its age, in a good dust jacket of the rare first American edition of this contemporary novel of the 1940s. Dust Jacket: paper, black and white photograph of night scene and red and white lettering to front and spine, black lettering on w white ground to rear; in good condition for its age; clean, rubbing and chipping to all edges particularly top of spine, but no major loss; not price clipped (now protected). Cover: taupe cloth covered boards with black/gilt lettering to spine; very clean and bright for its age although very slight marking (perhaps underlying glue) to fore-edges front and rear; otherwise in excellent condition, little or no sign of shelf wear. Internally: very clean and tightly bound; no inscriptions, markings or book plates; very neatly hand cut page edges. 244 pp. Seller Inventory # 000391
