Illustrated title page. 95pp., b/w illustrations throughout, + twelve pages on green paper with colour illustrations tipped in, all present but a couple creased. Contents clean and bright. Daphne Constance Allen (6 January 1899 1985) was an English artist who achieved recognition at an early age as a painter and illustrator. Throughout her career she painted religious subjects and landscapes. Allen was born in the Stamford Hill area of London where she was taught painting from an early age by her parents.[1] Her father was the painter Hugh Allen and she also took life-classes in Chelsea.
