[.] with sketches of the Lutzen, Bautzen, etc, etc. 8vo, 2 volumes, contemporary quarter leather with raised bands over marbled boards, viii, 319, iv, 336, 1 blank. Only edition. Although the Author is not credited, this work is attributed to George Croly (1780-1860). It is known that the Irish poet spent some time in Hamburg as correspondent for The Times in 1813, and in the preface of this work it is indeed stated that "The present writer has described it (the defense of the city) as he saw it". Leather binding with only slights signs of age, original marbled boards noticeably worn. Small previous bookseller sticker at first end paper. Close by, another residual label, which was imperfectly removed. Pages show inconsistent signs of age rather than use, especially the first and the last few of each volume, which are quite dusty, but they are overall very clean and barely show any form of foxing. There is a small chip missing from the lower edge of page 319 of volume I. A set in very good condition, in its original binding and remarkably well preserved. An extremely rare publication.
