About this Item
Very Nice Hardcover with dust jacket now protected in removable cover. Jacket design and illustrations by Lynda West. Cloth and paper over boards. 326 pp. Set in 6th century Gaul w/ maps, genealogy chart, a civilization existed where women lived short, brutish lives. If they did not die of plague or in childbirth, "rape or death at the hands of conquering armies often awaited them" (from front jacket flap). On the upside, a German princess, Ragegunda, tragically sees her family murdered, then is raised by, and later married to her captor, the Frankish king Clotair. Then, Ragegunda escapes from the court to found a convent, a haven for women like herself. Designed to be a place of poetry and calm. That story changes. There will be religious, and carnal fervor. And women in the convent wall. Collector's Item. Seller Inventory # 406
