Illustrated with nineteen additional Henton paintings in color reproductions on coated paper with tissue guards. Index. Dark red cloth, titles and illustrations stamped in gilt on the cover and spine, decorative borders stamped in black, head edge gilt. Gift inscription in ink on the front endpaper dated Christmas 1926. Spine just a tad faded; binding tight, leaves crisp and bright. A history of Windsor and its castle. Holmes was Royal Librarian at the Castle 1870 - 1905. With painted views and short captions on the tissue guards by Henton. A lavish production, in keeping with the A&C Black books of the era.
