Published in 1931, this is the thirty eighth overall edition and the First Ernest H. Shepard illustrated edition of this much loved classic, bound in the original green cloth titled and decorated in gilt, internally with double page map endpapers, the binding has some mild edge rubbing, minor edge bumps and small marks, internally small old ownership name to top left plain margin of the map endpapers, there are a number of browned foxing spots to a few pages, a few light handling marks, a green spot mark to page to page 207/208 (pictured) some creasing at top inner edges of some pages which is a production fault, small edge tears with no loss to last three pages, also to the pages is a bumped spot to the pages which has put a small hole in the last text page (also pictured) else a generally good acceptable example of the First E.
