Loius-Marie-Joseph De Grandpré (1761-1846), translated and added notes and critique to Major Taylor?s work, narrating the overland trip to India crossing the Ottoman Empire, from Aleppo in Syria, to Turkey, Iraq, then India, reporting mainly the different overland routes to follow, how to do so safely, with survival tips for the traveller, Grandpré was very much concerned with the relative influence of the different European powers in the places he visited, especially India, and reports on the war with Sultan Tippu.
