Two volume, first edition of this famous novel. Quarter bound in green leather with marbled boards & decorative spines; marbled endpapers & matching marbling to edges of text block; moderate to heavy use but still an attractive set. Library plate to front board inner of each volume but otherwise free of ownership marks. Scattered foxing, sometimes heavier; text pages are generally quite clean but the paper on which the illustrations were printed is more absorbent, so has suffered heavier foxing, especially prelims, but still an attractive copy.
