Aldrich]; titlepage with woodcut of the Sheldonian Theatre: [80] pp. + blank leaf; 1-149 pp., [59] pp.; including: Annales Velleiani, seu Vita; Vitae Velleianae [-] Synopsis Chronologica; editions of the text, previously published; variants (p. [150]); index. Bound in modern quarter, brown polished calf spine, sides and corner-pieces; with five raised bands on spine, with gilt-lettered title, gilt borders and blindstamped designs on spine; with marbled paper over boards, and matching marbled endpapers; headbands present, red sprinkled edges have not been trimmed down from the earlier binding. Former owner's printed book label on the front marbled paste-down. Spine leather shows light fading; earlier flyleaves show tanning & some pencil notations. Light tanning to page margins. Overall, a fine copy. Scarce book. The first time the Latin text had been printed in England. The scan shows the spine & front cover. Biographical information on Tiberius, Maecenas, Pompey. "Oxon. 1693, 1711. 8vo. Attributed to Hudson. These are correct and well published editions [the first & second], containing the valuable 'Annales Velleiani' of Dodwell."
