An uncorrected proof of The Valley of Bones, the seventh title in the Dance To The Music of Time series. Perfect bound softback, cream covers with horizontal red bands across. The blurb to the front cover states: "Nicholas Jenkins, the narrator of The Music of Time, joins an infantry regiment as a second lieutenant at the outbreak of the last war. Anthony Powell examines life in the army at close range." 243pp. On the cover is written in green ink "No 1 copy". This was evidently the first copy off the press to be sent to a reviewer. On the front endpaper is pasted a white label of the company Gregson & Wigan Ltd, London W1. (Powell's agents?). VG covers with rubbing to the extremities, internally near fine. Rare.
