This is the book that 1980s dinner party guests professed to have read, but maybe hadn't got past the first chapter or two. Difficult but rewarding and the source of the film with Daniel Day Lewis, this book defined its generation. Written in 1982, the novel was first published in French in 1984, then quickly in English translation by Harper & Row, New York, in 1984. A later UK edition was published by Faber in 1985. The book presented here is thus the first edition in English and is very presentable. The bookappears unread. Boards extremely clean and fresh and binding tight. Just the slightest hint of foxing to top edge. The jackethas one little chip to spine top edge. $15.95 price still present. Superb author photograph to rear. Seller Inventory # 952
