Collectible, gift quality, 1st edition hardcover in rust cloth covered boards with black title spine. Spine ends are barely bumped, tips still sharp, 256 pp text is crisp and unmarked. Not exlib. Price-clipped, full color illustrated dj in new mylar bumped at spine ends just like the book, tips sharp. DJ shows a girl in a red shirt and buff breeches on a dark bay or black horse looking over her shoulder at another girl, (most likely, her twin sister) galloping towards her on a brown & white pinto (shown on the backstrip of the dj, it has 2/3 wrap around art. Early chapter book, #246 imprinted at foot of spine on dj by publisher, just above publisher's name. Jean and Josephine Weston, twin sisters, bravely assist their father on his farm while Emu Plains is in the grip of a disastrous and seemingly endless drought. Of course, being only sixteen, the twins treat trouble as a tremendous joke, and by their light-heartedness no less than by their practical help, their harassed parents are able to carry on.
