About this Item
1962. viii, 71pp + 16 plates. B&W illustrations. "Michael Ayrton has for years been haunted by the myth of Daedalus, the archetypal crafstman, and his son Icarus, seeing in the ancient tale a profound relevance to man's existence among the technological miracles of the twentieth century. He found himself expressing images of flight and the physical effects of velocity on the human body in drawings, bronzes and paintings, mst of which were later exhibited at the Mattiesen Gallery in London in October 1961. This book is a further exploration of the same theme." Light shelf wear to the unclipped dust jacket. Both book and dust jacket are otherwise in excellent condition. All contents are tight and clean.
