Koenigsberg, quarto, ii, [1]-113 p. and 10 folding colored plates. ***CONTENT: This treatise describes the geography, Tertiary and Recent deposits and geologic formations found along the shores of the Samland peninsula, on the southeast coast of the Baltic - once part of East Prussia, now under Russian governance. Formations described on the coastal spits and bays include the "Glauconite Formation", the "Braunkohlen (brown coal) Formation", the "Bernsteinerde" (amber earth), "Diluvium", etc. This coast is famous for its deposits of Tertiary amber, and the author devotes much attention to the "Bernsteingruben" (amber pits) in the region. This is a special offprinted edition of the journal publication, with unique pagination, separate title pages, etc. ***CONDITION: A complete, near Fine copy in contemporary 3/4 cloth and marbled boards, with printed decorative title page mounted on the front board. Save for wear to the extremities, the covers are well preserved; backstrip fully complete. Joints and hinges solid, binding very firm. The text pages are fresh, clean and bright. The plates, which show colored cross-sections, map views and columnar sections, are very clean; plate I with an old repaired tear. This copy is from the library of Curt Teichert; his ownership signature and stamp are on the title page; no other ownership indications. This is a handsome copy of a very scarce publication.
