Add to basket342pp. This book is complete with a clear non-stick film on the dust-jacket which protects this book well. The dust-jacket is unclipped, there are no tears, inscriptions, handling marks anywhere in this book. It has never been read as far as I can see.
The author has used diaries, memoires and letters to provide source material for this excellent and informative new look at battle through the eyes of participants. Much is written of the effects of battle for the modern soldier, very much less is available for the battles of Napoleon. This makes for interesting reading. Modern writings cannot explain what it was like to face a cavalry charge, or to know how one would feel, facing battle knowing that any wounds, no matter how slight, could end in death from infection. Knowing that amputation was the only treatment for most musket ball would to arms or legs.
