Sensational confessional memoir by the 'Wild Woman of Butte', a nineteen-year-old self-proclaimed genius, anxious to "dedicate [her] life to the Devil in exchange for happiness" (p. 39); dismissive of marriage, flirting with death, full of feeling & art, aware of her oddness, in love with an older woman. Small hardcover, as pictured; first edition (first printing), "MCMII" on title page and "Published April 26, 1902" on the copyright page, listing no later printings. General wear, corners bumped, spine rubbed, corners frayed; ink name., light foxing & minor stains within; small clipping from a newspaper quoting a Chicago quip about the book pasted to page 1, with some offset tanning to adjacent pages.
