Sixteen monochrome plates, including her atelier in the Place Vendome. First British edition. The autobiography of the famous couturière, Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) who was one of the leading and most original fashion designers of the 1920s and1930s. Her interest in surrealism led to numerous collaborations with artists: Berard, Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dali, Vertes, Van Dongen; and with photographers: Hoyningen Huene, Horst, Cecil Beaton and Man Ray. Schiaparelli dressed the most glamorous women of the era, from royalty, most famously the Duchess of Windsor, to movie stars like Katharine Hepburn, Greta Garbo and Mae West, Schiaparelli s trademark shocking pink cloth ? somewhat faded, with gilt titles to spine. Spine loose and split on both sides; tatty top and bottom. Endpapers browned. Block, text and illustrations all intact and in good order. Seller Inventory # 001988
