8vo. [7], viii-xx, [3], 2-297, [1] pp. Bound in grey cloth with green lettering and chimpanzee stamped in dark grey on the front board, green and dark grey lettering on the spine. Price of $10.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket. 24 black and white plates and 8 color plates with photographs by Hugo van Lawick. Includes a program from the University of Wisconsin advertising "The Hilldale Lectures", a series of lectures from 1975-1976, that presented "Four Faces of the Future". These lectures showcased distinguished thinkers whose contributions to science and culture were internationally recognized. Dr. Jane Goodall was one of these lecturers, and spoke at the Union Theater on November 10, 1975 (as advertised on the program). There is also a bibliography of Jane Goodall laid in, typed up and issued from the Primate Library from the Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center (the bright marigold paper on which the bibliography is printed has photocopies of Goodall's named gorillas and chimpanzees decorating the margins). The story of Dr. Goodall and her study of wild chimpanzees in Tanzania, her observations on their ability to use and to fashion tools, to emote with each other, and their patterns of aggression. This is Dr. Goodall's third book. A Near Fine book in a Good+ dust jacket with a large closed tear to the front panel and foxing to the reverse, fading to the spine panel, and a small dampstain on the reverse.
