4to. Pp. 16. The title printed within the cover is "The Amana Society A Bit of the Old World Set Down in the New". Frontis. map (actually, inside front cover). Illustrated with b&w photos throughout. Illustrated wraps. Some slight foxing and staining within, else a Fine copy. Laid in is a small, pocket-size brochure, bi-fold, promoting Amana Hams, "Smoked in the Tower: and a clipping on the Amana community, excised from "Successful Farmer." A scarce publication. According to the "acknowledgements" at rear, the text is informed by "Amana The Community of True Inspiration" and "Amana That Was and Is," both by Bertha A. M. Shambaugh. Photos are quite revealing and indicate self-sufficiency in a society fairly immune to the vagaries of the Great Depression.
