1920. First edition. 43pp. and black and white illustrations. The Inchkeith Lyre was a non-official First World War journal of the 6th Battalion The Royal Scots, edited by "Spagoni". It helped to lighten the labours, and beguile the tedium, of garrison life under Active Service conditions from August 1914 till May 1915. It appeared almost weekly during the period and must have been one of the earliest of the many rergimental journals issued during the War. It contained short stories, poems, some articles of non-fiction, and many black and white drawings and cartoons. This book contains a selection of some of the best contributions to the journal. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling and an illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear and some uneven fading to the cloth. The contents are tight and clean with light foxing to the endpapers.
