Illustrated with a two-page black and white map showing 'Spanish & Portuguese Settlements in America (The political divisions are shown as they were at the end of the eighteenth century. The names of the Spanish Viceroyalties and Captaincies General, are written thus: CHILE (in capitals); Names of Indian peoples: MOJOS (in italics)' to the rear. ***Very good in original blue cloth-covered limp boards with black titles to spine and black titles, borders and decorative device to front board. Edges of boards slightly rubbed. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed and bumped. Corners of boards slightly rubbed and bumped. All edges of text-block untrimmed (rough-cut, as called for). The course of the lectures was in the first instance and endeavor to perform a war-service by drawing attention to the activity of the Germans in Latin America, and particularly to the ingenuity and tenacity of their efforts to hold their economic ground during the war, with a view to extending it after the conclusion of peace. A second object was to examine more generally the bearings of the war on those countries, and the influence of the present crises on their development and status in the world.'
