Stated First Edition. Ex-library. Black cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Ffep is stamped ''withdrawn'' and has the name of a previous owner. Name of library rubber stamped on title page. Rear free endpaper is damaged from removal of library pocket. Aside from these noted flaws, this is a rather clean copy. No call numbers. 384 pages. Dust jacket shows very slight wear; not price clipped ($4.50); in an archival mylar sleeve. The second book in Cordell's Mortymer trilogy, set in Wales during the period of the Rebecca Riots [1839-1843], when local farmers violently reacted against the taxation scheme, dressed up as women, blacked their faces, and rode by night to burn the hated tollgates.
