The Rivals by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. A Comedy in Three Acts. A programme for a 1896 production of The Rivals under the direction of C B Jefferson and Joseph Brooks. Hardcover. Size: 7 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches. Marbled boards with leather spine and corners. Deckle edges. Five raised bands to the spine, and gilded lettering and decoration. With four pages of introduction, ten full page biographic portraits of the players with a full page photograph on the opposite page of the actor in costume, and eight pages of attractive adverts at the rear. Condition: Very Good. The boards are a little rubbed. There is a patch of loss on the back board. The lettering on the spine is a little damaged but the five gilded flowers remain bright. The first end paper is a little torn. The pages are, in the main ,very clean and un-thumbed. Seller Inventory # 000900
