4to. Hardcover. Pp. 477. First Edition. In very good condition, Leather binding with gilt border; raised bands with gilt title and decoration on the spine. Minor shelf-wear including light scuffs and scratches, some rubbing at the corners and along the edges, with slight cracking at the top and bottom of the spine. Hint of cracking between the spine and the front board, but nonetheless firmly bound and intact. Pages themselves are clean and unmarked with light foxing. Some very faint water marks but no obstruction of text or plates. No significant stains or creases.Previous owner's bookplate on front end-paper. With 12 copper engraved plates and a fold-out frontispiece illustration of the Devitza Monastary near St. Petersburg, all by P. Mazell. John Glen King (17321787) was an English cleric and antiquarian, known as an author on the Russian Orthodox Church.
