Discoloured red boards and spines lettered in gilt and black. Volume 1: surface of circular motif at front rubbed with a 1 c x 5 mm bare patch and the top corner bumped; the spine has been professionally rebacked, the new red cloth just visible around the margins. Internally bookplate on front pocket containing folded map; 1 cm bare patch in front gutter; two more folding maps and another in rear pocket. Pp xix, i, 563, (1), 32. Volume 2: three 5 mm pale spots on front panel; fraying around head and base of spine to a depth of 5 mm and light wear to four front corners; internally bookplate on front pastedown; 3 mm crack down gutter between half-title and portrait frontis; five colour maps as called for, one folding.
