This G+ quality first format and likely first edition book was published in 1914 by Hurst and Company and is 7-7/8" tall with 302 numbered pages of text. This book--one-piece gray ribbed binding with black lettering--is square, reasonably clean, with all four corners bumped and a small ding on the fore edge of each board; the head and heel of the spine are bumped with slight wear and color loss but no fraying; the bottom edges have a moderate amount of wear. The spine is lightly soiled and worn but the lettering and illustration are intact. The front panel illustration in red, black and white is clean but missing most of the white paint. Except for an inked name & city on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. Both hinges are reasonably strong--the front hinge has a bit of give to it and the paper covering the rear hinge is torn the whole length of the hinge (see photo); text paper is only very slightly toned and is very flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis + 3 are present and intact. The only list in the book is on the title page and it lists only the first title of this series, also published in 1914.
