An apparently unrecorded pamphlet reporting the proceedings of a meeting held by the Committee of Justices of Peace for the County of Renfrew, in response to a Parliamentary Select Committee report, into 'means of improving the present practice of licensing public houses'. The primary resolutions concern stricter regulations regarding the issuing of certificates for the sale of alcohol, and limitations on the number of licensed houses in the region to combat the 'ruinous effects of public intemperance.the alarming prevalence of which, amongst the people, has already exposed this country to the just reproach of other nations'.
