Half red straight-grained morocco, gilt, all edges gilt, marbled boards and endpapers. Spine showing a little wear, boards a little rubbed. With the (Sebastian Carter) book-label of David J. Hall, his pencilled note, "The Keats here without frontispiece as in the earliest issues" (but the frontispiece was actually a general one, featuring all three poets), and, above, an older pencilled note, "This is the first collected edition of the poetical works of P.B. Shelley and the first collected edition of the works of John Keats[.] It is a collector's item & scarce. Auction Records 1946 [£]8/12/6 1945 [£]4/0/-"; old manusript notes on two rear blanks, with, loosely inserted, portrait prints of Coleridge, 1837, and Shelley, 1838, issued by John Murray. The pirating publishers give notice: "Messrs. Galignani beg leave to intimate, that the present edition of the Works of Coleridge, Shelley, and Keats, is infinitely more perfect than any of those published in London; as they have been favoured, from private sources, with many original productions of these esteemed writers, which are now for the first time given to the public; in addition to which, all their contributions have been carefully selected from the numerous miscellaneous publications in which they have from time to time appeared.".
