1920. First edition. 52pp. Sir John Helias Finnie McEwen, 1st Baronet (1894-1962), also known as Jock McEwen, was a British Unionist politician who served in the House of Commons as Conservative Member of Parliament for Berwick and Haddington from the 1931 to 1945 general elections. During the First World War, he served in the Cameron Highlanders, being promoted captain in 1915. He transferred to the Royal Army Flying Corps and was later a prisoner of war. This book contains a collection of 32 short poems and translations on various subjects. The book is bound in the original grey paper covered boards with blue titling on the spine and front board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscripiton. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and some rubbing along the top edge. The spine ends are lighty bumped with some very small pieces missing from the spine corners. There is a light water stain around the bottom front corner. Seller Inventory # gScotPoetMcEw01
