About this Item
First Edition, 1926, but 6th Impression.William Heinemann, London Publisher. Red cloth boards in good condition, while binding has some tears as well as worn down title and author. Spine on title page is beginning to pull from pages, even though it is still connected. 476 pps. Introduction written by Richard Aldington., Lawrence's pagan imaginings burgeon. Kate Leslie, an Irish widow touring Mexico, becomes gradually involved with a charismatic leader, and she enters a sexual relationship with his henchman. As the two men conspire to revive the old Aztec religion and seize power, Kate is increasingly implicated in their 'blood consciousness', phallic propaganda and right-wing violence. "The Plumed Serpent" is full of the 'politically incorrect'. Seller Inventory # 513
