1974. First edition. xiii, 222pp. This is a study of Church-State relationships where the Church was a legally-permitted religious minority in a non-Christian state. After a breif introductory survey, there is a study of the Acts of the Synod of Seleucia of 410, and the contemporary Edict of Yazdgard I which recognised the Church as a permitted minority in an officially Zoroastrian State. This is followed by a statistical survey and accounts by canonists and historians, of the expansion and organisation of the Church of the East between 410 and 820. The book is bound in the orginal paper covered boards with titling and an illustration on the front board and a brief biography of the author on the rear board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some offsetting on the boards and a light bump to the top corner of the front board. The contents are tight and clean with a name and date written on the front free endpaper. The unclippped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and there is rubbing and creasing along the top edge. The spine ends are bumped with nicks and small pieces missing at the top of the spine. There is a tear of about 1/4" on the top rear edge. Seller Inventory # gIslamEtc01
