vi+265 pages with illustrations by Herbert Roese. Small octavo (7 3/4" x 5 1/2") bound in red cloth with cream lettering to spine and pictorial ribald picture and lettering to front cover. First edition. The Passionate Witch (1941, published posthumously and completed by Norman H. Matson). Produced in 1942 as the movie I Married a Witch, one of the inspirations along with Bell, Book and Candle for the long-running TV series Bewitched. A sequel to the novel, Bats in the Belfry (1942), is entirely by Matson, though sometimes attributed to Smith. Condition: Some light rubbing to points and spine heal, former owner's book plate to front pastedown. Jacket with some edge wear and small chips and closed tears, some light soiling else a very good copy in like jacket. Seller Inventory # L0085
