A beautiful set of Zola's last installment in "Les Trois Villes", a series chronicling society, religion, and class tensions in Lourdes, Rome, and Paris, during the 19th century, one of the last works published before Zola's death. The first volume has a picture and an obituary of Emile Zola pasted on the front pastedown, and a contemporary date written on the free front endpaper, the top of the textblocks show small spots of soiling, and the rear pastedown of each has a small bookseller's tag.
