Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Black, cloth-covered boards with elaborate gilt designs on the front and spine. The front board and spine also have red and blue accents. The backboard is heavily rubbed. The spine and boards are bumped and chipped. The top of the spine has a half-inch tear. The top of the pages were once gilded but the gilding has faded. The hinges are cracked front and back. The frontispiece and title page are completely separated from the spine and are chipped, cracked, and water damaged. All of the pages are tanned and show signs of water damage about one-fourth distance from the top of the pages. The illustrations are protected by tissue paper.
