About this Item

Description:

First Edition I PROTEST! by David Douglas Duncan. 190mm x 140mm. "These photographs were shot during the siege at Khe Sanh, by combat photographer David Duncan, who lived with the trapped Marines inside their enemy-encircled valley. I Protest! is an unforgettable document written on behalf of the Americans who fell at Khe Sanh, the ones for whom help came too late. Mr. Duncan wrote the text before the Khe Sanh siege was lifted - an impassioned plea for sanity in a disastrous war. "I'm just a veteran combat photographer and foreign correspondent who cares intensely about my country and the role we are playing - and assigning to ourselves - in the world of today. And I want to shout a loud and clear protest at what has happened at Khe Sanh, and in all of Vietnam.". Seller Inventory # ABE-1698421994688

Soft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Book good stiff paper soft cover with actual black and white photo of 2 "G I's" carrying a dead soldier to the rear ramp of a waiting helicopter at Khe Sanh Vietnam. Many unpaginated black and white photos tell of the trapped Marines inside their enemy-encircled valley. Regretfully, the previous owner clipped the top corner of the title page cutting the I and part of the P of the title. The photo is intact of 2 marines in their bunker! David Douglas Duncan spent eight days in February 1968 with Marines of the 26th Regiment entrenched at Khe Sanh! Pictures do tell a thousand words. Seller Inventory # 7005
