Green cloth covers with illustred and decorated front board. Profusely illustrated in green in every page margin with recurring motifs of figures, and 14 full page colour illustrations by Kirk, first published in 1916 but here in a new edition with the additional illustrations and decorations. A little dusty and spine is browned, very good indeed. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.
