About this Item
Stated First Edition. A Double D Brand the mystery. You can see the gray covers in the photos. They appear to have slight color inconsistency or fading, but are exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling. They're also and very solid condition. There is no rubbing on any of the edges or corners. There is just a little bit of crinkling at the spine ends. The blue lettering on the spine is nicely bright. The page edges look very good. The middle page edge is deckled or rough-cut. They did an excellent job. The book has a slight to moderate forward lean, but is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages and nicely tight covers. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. I'm not finding any instances of soiling. I'm not finding any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. There's a little bit of toning off the front middle edge. There is scuffing at the top and bottom edges of the spine and also along its sides. On the rear cover there are three superficial indents or imprints just off the rear bottom edge. There is also a small crease on the rear cover to the right of its middle edge. The flaps are in very good condition. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'Here is a novel of suspense, based on an incident in California history when a powerful mining company raped the mountain of its gold and almost destroyed the towns and ranches in the valleys below. The big hydraulic pumps shot a continuous jet stream of water into the virgin hills. Huge sections of hillside quivered under the impact and dissolved into a river of mud. Channeled into sluiceways, the yellow torrent was stripped of its treasure of gold ore and the unwanted residue was left to flow down the mountainsides into the verdant valleys. Everything the dirt-clogged stream touched was stained and the once-green pastures were covered with an ever-spreading carpet of mud. The ranchers grew desperate as their cattle began to die from thirst and starvation. It was also unnecessary, but the Kruger Mining interests were after profits. With their homes at stake, a courageous group of California ranchers banded together to fight violence with violence. Soon the darkness resounded with the thunder of hoofbeats is the ranchers rode to win back their way of life.'. Seller Inventory # 004337
