Dr Jay has compiled this Grammar expressly to bridge the gap. He starts at the very beginning, assuming no technical knowledge in the student, and takes him to a stage which, in many Grammars, is reserved for a second volume. ***Dr Jay's practical knowledge of teaching the language is reflected in the arrangement of the book: the declension of nouns, adjectives, and pronouns, and the paradigms of verbs, are set out so as to lighten as far as possible the unavoidable labour of learning by heart; examples are quoted mainly from St. Mark, since beginners are often given that Gospel as their first New Testament reading; the importance of translation from English into Greek is emphasized in the exercises; and the book is fully supplied with vocabularies, paradigms, and indexes. ***The student who works through Dr Jay's Grammar should attain a sound grasp of the language, and may well find that the book becomes an essential part of his equipment for the rest of his working life.' (Quote from inside front of dustwrapper blurb). ***First reprint of the true first edition, complete in its original dustwrapper. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Seller Inventory # 3718
