Black and white photographic frontispiece â" showing part of a wrecked German fusilage been removed for examination; throughout the text there are black-and-white photographs, black-and-white illustrations and figures. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Quoting from the introduction page 9, " . This report constitutes a summary of data resulting from the metallurgical examination of German and aircraft engine and airframe parts by the Aero Components Sub- Committee of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Special and Alloy steel Committee formed for this purpose. the principal object of these investigations was to obtain data on the type and quality of materials used, methods of manufacture, efficiency of the heat-treatment to which the parts had been submitted, together with any other information which might prove of value, as, for example, details of the finish." This book is an ex-library copy â" from the Munitions Supply Board Library â" and has the faults of same: â" library stamps, including red cancelled stamps, throughout the book and title page; library numeration to the end pages and the due back pocket is still attached to the rear paste-down. Library barcode to the lower left hand corner of the title page and top left hand corner of the front panel. Library sticker to the lower edge of the back strip. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges; with bumping and rubbing of the book corners. The book panels show marks and rubs and there is rubbing either side of the back strip along with a little fading. Bumping along the front edge the book. Light age toning of the text block edges.
