1894. 1st US Edition. Hardback. Rare. This copy includes the story "The Card-Board Box". The first London edition did not include "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box", although all twelve stories had appeared in the Strand Magazine. The first U.S. edition included the story, but it was very quickly replaced with a revised edition that omitted it. Illustrated. In original cloth covers, with gilt titles to front and spine and decorated to front and spine. Covers worn and stained, sunned to spine, and with nicks to edges and corners. Binding is loose, rebound to front and back end papers, all pages are intact. Spotting to page edges and light foxing throughout. Stain to bottom page edges at front of the book. Text is crisp and clear and remains a very nice and rare copy of the first US edition, with the additional story omitted in later editions. First edition copy. . . . Seller Inventory # KSG0028094
