Also includes introduction, glossary, conclusion and index, and numerous colour and b&w illustrations: 8 diagrams, two folding maps and 33 plates. Bound in wine-coloured cloth with blind tooled borders on both boards and gilt titles on spine. Very good condition - previous owner's signature (dated 1944) on PFEP, slight foxing to edges and endpapers, boards a bit rubbed at corners and edges with some abrasion near edges and general shelf wear.
