Each element of a symbol is explored in isolation - circle, arc, horizontal and vertical line, etc. - which enables the reader to begin interpreting almost any symbol encountered, or indeed to create his/her own. More complex symbols are also investigated, such as the Fish, Ankh, Pentagram, Monad, etc. and lead up to examinations of highly complex symbolic representations such as Alchemical Illustrations. There are also sections on such people as, John Dee, Jacob Boheme, Robert Fludd, etc. though nothing more than a page long.
