Besides being signed by Susan Peterson and Maria Poveka, it is signed by Santana Martinez, Barbara Gonzalez, and John noo-ilke [?] and dated November 1977. 337 photographs of pottery, many colored. Maria Martinez was a ninety-seven Tewa Indian when this book was issued and she was the matriarch to five generations of family potters at San Ildefenso Pueblo, New Mexico. In addition, she has added an historical sketch of the burnished black pottery by Bertha P. Dutton. Bound in brown cloth, spine lettering black, near fine in very good pictorial dust jacket with small edge tear and chipping to bottom of rear panel. Previous owner's small mailing label.
