The gilt lettering and decorations on the white cloth boards have been protected by a cloth dust jacket with gilt lettering on the spine. All edges are gilt on this publication, with some loss of color on the top edge, and there are 386 pages of text. There is light discoloration to the boards and some edge wear to all exposed areas. The dust jacket has left an area of browning on the free end papers. The leafs show uniform and age appropriate toning, but there is no highlighting, underlining or marginalia contained on the text pages. The dust jacket shows some chipping along the edges, especially at the spine ends and corners. The author was associated with churches in both Boston and Philadelphia, Trinity Church and Church of the Holy Trinity respectively as an Episcopal clergyman.
