About this Item
Mercedes was the lover of Greta Garbo and gives her recollections of Cecil Beaton, Marlene Dietrich, Georgia O'Keefe, Cole Porter, Isadora Duncan, Igor Stravinsky, Aldous Huxley, D T Suzuki, Alice B Toklas, Eleonora Duse, and many others. She was greatly infulenced by Buddhism about which she writes here. Presentation copy from the author "to Christmas Humphreys (Toby) with gratitude for much I have learned from you. Affectionately.". Humphreys was a controversial British barrister, judge, one of the most notable converts to Buddhism and founder of the London Buddhist Lodge and author of many books on Buddhism. Bright yellow paper boards rather discoloured. Black cloth spine a little faded with darker 1cm patch probably from removal of private library mark. Ow very good.
