Hard cover with dark green leather spine and corners, and marbled boards, minor rubbing of leather and only minimal wear to boards, and some sun-related fading of the edges of the boards; and gilt titles on spine. The book remains attractive and includes a frontispiece, coat of arms on title page and 230 clean pages in French text. Inside the front cover is a book plate - The gift of M Oppenheim in 1919 (1853-1927, pioneer historian of English naval administration) to Bath Public Reference Library, but none of the usual lending library stamps, although there is a small white catalogue marking on spine.
