About this Item
582 pages, Red hardback binding with "The Journal 1932-3" gilt embossed to spine, in good condition, minor edge wear. Contents Very good/mint, just inscription inside front end page "Private Copy, L.H. Puzey". This seems to be a complete run of ad hoc Teachers magazines, some are published for 3 months others for 2 months, includes various subjects including Interviews with teachers, book reviews, staff changes, reminiscences, cricket, football, life & letters and lots more, not forgetting lots of great period adverts throughout. Book Starts with page 57, which is the Title Page for No.47 February 1932, to page 296, then pages 1- 284, then page 1, which is the Title Page for No. 56 December 1933 to page 60. Looks complete for 2 years of issues, except individual magazines would have had their own (paper/card?) covers. A quick net check found no other copies, but hard to be sure as title page & spine just has "The Journal", not sure if monthly magazine covers would have been the same or "The Teachers Journal" or " The Journal of the Portsmouth and District Teachers' Association" or another title. . A very rare National Union of Teachers Union magazine just for the Portsmouth and District area, so would have had a very low print run, and do not think it lasted much longer. Historically interesting for teaching of the area. The Chairman of the Press and Journal committee was Mr. F. J. Smith. 13.5 x 20.5cm Approx. Seller Inventory # 001688
