Top edge gilt; other edges deckled - leaves cut to irregular sizes. pp : xiv + 279. Preface by the author, Constance Hill, Grove Cottage, Frognal, Hampstead, September 1901. Frontis. Portrait of Jane Austen ' From a water-colour drawing in the possession of W. Austen Leigh, Esq.', with lightly browned and spotted tissue-guard. Profusely illustrated with many full-page reproductions, several with tissue-guards, and many line drawings full-page and as vignettes. Including a full-page facsimile of the First Edition Title Page of 'Sense and Sensibility', and a fold-out facsimile of ' Autograph Letter of Jane Austen' - in Fine condition. Predominantly tight, bright and clean, with occasional very minor foxing spots - really remarkably few. Small neat ink inscription to front pastedown. Otherwise no markings. Externally firm and square, with moderate wear only. Spine ends rubbed, with a little incipient splitting particularly to top where there is a small frayed tear. (please see pics).
