A fine, signed, first edition of Kiran Desai's award winning novel, 'The Inheritance of Loss'. A Man Booker winning elucidation of India through two main characters, Biju and Sai. First edition first impression. Signed by the author to the title page. In the original unclipped dustwrapper. Loosely inserted is a bookmark for the Man Booker Prize in 2006. The winner of the Man Booker Prize in 2006, and the National Book Critics Circle Fiction Award in 2007. 'The Inheritance of Loss' is centered on two characters, Biju and Sai, and takes place in 1986. The novel follows Biju, an undocumented immigrant in the US, and Sai, a girl living in Kalimpong with her grandfather, looking at the internal conflicts in India. Written by Kiran Desai, an Indian author who prior to this work had already published the critically acclaimed 'Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Dustwrapper is unclipped. Externally, in a fine condition, with just some minor shelf-wear to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is also in an excellent condition with little to no shelfwear.
