However, his fame has since been eclipsed by his Romantic colleagues and friends Wordsworth, Coleridge and Byron. Italy was his final work, and came into being from the diary of his tour around Italy in1814. It was Rogers' longest work with the first part being published anonymously in 1822 and the second in 1828. Upon a poor reception Rogers enlarged and revised the poem and commissioned illustrations from J M W Turner, Thomas Stothard and Samuel Proud. Thomas Dawson Brodie was a Scottish lawyer and one of the founding members of the Scottish law firm Brodies. Grenville Lindall Winthrop was an American lawyer and art collector. He was also a direct descendant of John Wintrop, the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He donated his entire art collection to Harvard University, his alma mater. 1382290.
